LINK UP: WHATEVER WEDNESDAYS - I SPEND TOO MUCH TIME . . .

Edit Artikel

Happy Wednesday, Bloglanders!

This week the topic is lighter than last week's, but another great one, which allowed me to remember some moments from my past, which also age me, but we won't tell! ;)

I hope you are all enjoying your week so far!  If you want to join in on Whatever Wednesdays with Shay & Alissa and crew, just e-mail them to get linked up!

I SPEND TOO MUCH TIME . . . ON THE INTERNET

(image)

This is a very true statement.  Though not one of which I should probably be too proud...shhh! ;)

The Internet, or Interweb, as I like to refer to it for fun, has truly changed our society, some for the good, but some for, without a doubt, the bad, too.

This is going to age me a bit, but when I was in high school, I didn't have e-mail, and when I started college we had to dial up to use the Internet via a splitter on the phone line!

Any of you remember this familiar sound, similar to alien communication, when trying to connect?  I realize many of my readers are younger, but this was what we listened to simply trying to connect, often followed by a busy signal.

In fact, CompuServe made fun of AOL's busy signal in their super simple, but effective, 1998 Superbowl commercial, which I remember vividly! Haha!

I don't know what it is about the Internet, but it seems to suck you in, and next thing you know, hours of your life have vanished...POOF!

Between Blogging, Pinterest, YouTube, Facebook, etc. there is endless entertainment, and yes, moms and dads, sometimes even learning, on a variety of topics, to be had.

Though why is it that you can sit down to watch or search for a YouTube video before bed, and then, somehow you've linked to another, another and yet, another, and next thing you know, the sun is rising! Oh my!

Truth is, a lot of what I do, work wise, requires the Internet, also allowing me to do it from anywhere, one of the wonders of the invention, thank you, Tim Berners-Lee!

Plus, I don't have a TV or cable, so, I use the Internet to watch TV shows I enjoy and movies, which is definitely perk, love it!

Speaking of perks...the Internet connects me with so many of you, now friends, in blogland, and that is one thing I would never change, it has been wonderful! :)

However, it is kind of sad that when the Internet is down, I sometimes don't know what to do with myself, which is so silly since I grew up without it.  I'm not old enough to have forgotten...yet!

Is it just me, or do some of you feel like the Internet is a part of you, so, without it, you sometimes feel a part of you is missing?!?  Kind of R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S, but true! :)

So, kiddies, now you know, if you can't seem to find me...simply locate the nearest computer! ;)
